Pune (PTI): Criticising BJP Lok Sabha candidate Varun Gandhi for his anti-Muslim speeches, NCP president Sharad Pawar has regretted that the saffron party was supporting him despite his remarks that hands of people opposing Hindus should be "cut off".

"Every party wants to give opportunities to youngsters but what ideology and what preachings are we giving them? To declare in open public meetings that people's hands should be cut off," he said on Saturday night. '

China-based hackers break into PCs of Dalai, Indian embassy.

New York: A vast cyber spy network controlled from China has infiltrated Government and private computers in 103 countries, including those of Indian embassy in Washington and the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, a media report said on Sunday.

Canadian researchers, the New York Times reported, have concluded that the computers based almost exclusively in China are controlling the network and stealing documents, but stopped short of saying that the Chinese government was involved.

It quoted researchers as saying that they had found no evidence that the US government offices had been infiltrated, although a NATO computer was monitored by the spies for half a day and computers of the Indian embassy in Washington were infiltrated.

The researchers, who are based at the Munk Center for International Studies at the University of Toronto, had been asked by the office of the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan leader whom China regularly denounces, to examine its computers for signs of malicious software or malware, the paper said, quoting a report being issued shortly.

Ajmal Kasab's letter to be scanned for codes

The letter writen by Mohammed Ajmal Amir Iman aka Kasab to his parents in Pakistan is not yet posted as the police fear that the letter might contain some encrypted message to his handlars in Pakistan.

Kasab has reportedly admitted to being trained on how to use dots, letters and symbols in a specific way to communicate with his accomplices. "Kasab has told us that during his advance training, he has been taught to communicate in various codes to evade interception. We are intentionally not posting his letter, as it may be coded, too," said Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) Rakesh Maria.

According to crime branch officials, Kasab also revealed that he received training on various other ways to communicate, including the use of orange and lime juice to encrypt letters, which can be decrypted (read) using special tactics known only to his accomplices. On Sunday, Kasab was given a piece of paper and a pen to write a letter to his parents after he expressed his desire to do so.

He wrote a letter in simple Urdu and gave police his native address, which is in Faridkot village under Dipalpur tehsil, in Okada district in Pakistan.

While Ajmal, who is reportedly in early twenties, was nabbed near Girgaum Chowpatty, the nine others were killed by security forces.

Police officers said this was Ajmal's first operation while some of the others had participated in terror attacks earlier.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar will not celebrate his birthday

NCP chief Sharad Pawar will not celebrate his 68th birthday on Friday in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks. Pawar will be in Delhi in the morning on that day to attend Parliament and leave for Pune later in the day but there will be no celebrations, party sources said.
Congress chief Sonia Gandhi had also not celebrated her birthday on Tuesday in view of the Mumbai incidents.
